TOP 5 SKI & SNOWBOARD TRAVEL TIPS
Are you planning a ski or snowboard holiday? If you are here's our Top 5 Travel Tips to help you plan the best trip, find the best snow and not end up falling for resort advertising and media spin.
1. Search hashtags and timelines for post and pics from real locals and visitors as these tend to paint a more realistic picture of conditions than advertisements and social media posts from resorts, hotels and retailers.
2. Do more than look at pictures! Avoid BIG disappointments by digging a little deeper.... the truth is out there so search the mountain conditions online first... how many acres does the resort have compared to what percentage is actually open.
3. Reading the Weather Forecasts can be the difference between a great last minute powder trip or an expensive mistake... a picture of a snowflake doesn't reflect the amount of accumulation... could be a powder day or just dust on crust.
4. Don't fall for the number of lifts and trails or you may find upon closer examination many of the trails are catwalks and some of the lifts are ski school magic carpets... investing a few seconds to take a closer look could save you from a mistake.
5. Snow Reports and Conditions can be helpful or misleading depending on how resorts report them... some are easier to understand what to expect when you arrive, while others try to entice you to spend money with less then accurate information.
