5 THINGS YOU CAN DO TO HELP SUPPORT Songwriters, Bands & Musicians
Funding or de-funding?
Money…money…money… you know it's always a hot topic… fees,
commissions, royalties, rates, expenses, taxes and on and on.
Recent publications have claimed over 77% of the money paid to
artists in the music industry goes to the Top 1%... leaving the
99% to try and make a living on remaining 23%. Sound familiar?
Maybe that's why the top musicians, the industry and media do
absolutely nothing to help audiences find and share all kinds of
music.
The biggest casualties are new
artists and new music who simply don't have opportunities to
connect with audiences and the support necessary to grow and
thrive as an artist. Not everyone is made of money to travel and
see every show everywhere they want, and every band can't afford
to tour everywhere they'd like to play. But, there are ways you
can stay connected and help all your favorite songwriters and
bands… even your starving local artists too, and not all of them
cost money.
Here's Our TOP 5 Ways You Can Help
Music:
1. BUY their stuff from them
- on their website or at shows
cutting out any middlemen means for the artist
2. SEE a show
- if you have the means and
opportunity support live performances
3. ADD their music to your play lists
- streaming revenues are small, but
if you have a membership you can help them add up
4. SHARE links to their stuff
- If you like something you might
know people who might like it too… spread the word
5. FOLLOW them on social media
- Artists love when people notice
their work & it encourages the industry to pay attention
