Not as generous as we could be?

Let's see if we are on the same page. A wealthy mountain resort community always seems to have a self promoting moment or two, three, and so on when some have nothing better to do but pat themselves on he back about how generous they are. Sometimes they throw parties, give themselves awards and more… but call it a fund raiser. This is part of the lifestyle for the privileged… at the same time many others are going without. For those fortunate to be in such postions its a choice between building a bigger table or building a bigger wall. What would charitable and compassionate people do?

But they want to choose who needs and or deserves help… if those persons in need don't fit the profile of what these generous individual perceive they should look like then guess what? They don't get they help they may desperately need. Most elite people want those suffering to happy about their misery… what? How are miserable… suffering people… supposed to happy about their circumstances or situation? Would you? Or maybe it's the fact that the person trying their darnedest get frustrated that no matter how hard they work, how hard they try, how much they sacrifice, and still they can't help themselves. Makes you think perhaps we'd all be well served by taking a second to look at compassion and generosity in a different light.

Everybody needs help sometimes… it's not always a hand out as some charities or politicians may have you believe... sometimes it's an opportunity or a hand up. Donating money because you have a lot of it may be more of giving a man a fish compared to teaching him to fish… we've all heard the old expression. Besides most are aware of the tax deductible benefits that drive some more than making a difference. That being said sometimes the right thing to do is to give the man a fish to survive today so he may learn to fish tomorrow.
